Rupert Guinness

Rupert Guinness is a senior sports writer previously with Fairfax and News Ltd, and the bestselling author of 14 books including The Flying Grocer (Penguin) The Tour – Behind the Scenes of Cadel Evans’ Tour de France (Hardie Grant), George Smith: the biography (Allen & Unwin) and Aussie, Aussie, Oui, Oui, Oui: Australian Cyclists In 100 Years of The Tour de France (Random House Australia).

Guinness was awarded a Walkley Award commendation in 2001 for his inside story for The Australian on the 1999/2000 Sydney to Hobart yacht race where he crewed on board the line honours-winning maxi yacht Nicorette. A former triathlete, club cyclist and elite lightweight rower, Guinness still rides and runs in marathons.
